Milwaukee County’s TAD Program will be implemented and guided by the standards on release and diversion
developed by the National Association of Pretrial Services Agencies. The project goals in collaboration
with the District Attorneys and courts is to divert people in need of substance abuse services from the
criminal justice process into community based social and treatment services, reduce the number of people
in need of substance abuse services in the Milwaukee County jail, and reduce the number of substance abusing
defendants sent into the state prison system from Milwaukee County. Diversion Specialists will: For those individuals who are not diverted pre-charging, the Diversion Specialist’s summary findings may be reviewed at subsequent court hearings such as the initial appearance, preliminary hearing, pretrial, arraignment and/or projected guilty plea/sentencing. The individual may be considered for deferred prosecution/sentencing at any of these points. If appropriate and agreed upon, the Diversion Specialist will prepare the Diversion Agreement as outlined above. All Pretrial Contacts Back to all Pretrial programs. |
